Traditional dance back in limelight

MBABANE – The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), in partnership with Imigidvo Yesintfu Eswatini, have launched a traditional dance competition.

Imigidvo Yesintfu Eswatini, a recognised national affiliate, proudly announces the launch of the National Traditional Dance Competition 2025, which kicks off with regional eliminations on Saturday, August 9 and will culminate in a thrilling final round at the Eswatini International and Trade Fair on September 7, hosted at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. ENCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini revealed that this year’s competition will embrace inclusivity.

“This prestigious national event is aimed at preserving, celebrating and promoting emaSwati traditional dance forms while empowering communities and creating platforms for artistic expression.

‘‘This year’s competition embraces inclusivity by welcoming Group B (community-based teams from imiphakatsi) and Group A (disciplined forces, companies and formal teams) to compete in three distinct traditional dance categories: Sibhaca, Lutsango and Ingadla,” Dlamini said
