HLANE – Big Game Parks has intensified security to guard against poaching during the course of Butimba, an annual official hunt commissioned by His Majesty King Mswati III.

The event is as important as the annual Umhlanga, annual Incwala Ceremony and Marula Festival, among other national events in the country. In an interview yesterday, Jubela Reilly, who was among those leading the warriors to the first hunting zone at Mdolofiyeni, said they are aware of the fact that poachers might take advantage of Butimba and engage in illegal hunting of game.

As a result, Reilly said they had intensified security to ensure that poachers had no room for poaching.

He also called the rangers, informing them to guard against anyone entering with a gun in the undesignated areas.

It is worth noting that when commissioning Butimba at Hlane Royal Residence, His Majesty King Mswati III made it clear that no guns will be allowed at Butimba if not registered with the police under the supervision of the National Commissioner of Police, Vusi Manoma Masango, who was also present at the event. The King, through Indvuna Qomentanyeni Magagula, urged warriors to adhere to the trumpet concerning orders during the course of the event.

The King warned that no animal would be shot once the trumpet blows. He also mentioned that no animal will be shot at night. He said roadblocks would be manned to guard against the illegal transportation of game. Through Magagula, the King said whoever is found transporting the wild animals would be brought to the regiment. It is worth noting that security personnel manned a roadblock at the intersection just after Hlane Game Reserve.

The King ordered that the regiment should follow behind those with guns during the course of hunting.

He also warned those with guns against shooting back as they were being followed by the regiment.

The King warned that young warriors should remain behind as the seniors proceed to the forest. He communicated the latest order through Army Commander, General Four Star Mashikilisane Hulumende Fakudze.
