MBABANE – The secret is out.

Following intense speculation linking MTN Premier League giants Mbabane Swallows’ Captain, Philiso ‘Strong’ Newman, with several Zimbabwean Premier League sides, it has been revealed that the defender is officially on the radar of top-flight newcomers, Agama FC.

A source close to the matter has disclosed that the former national Under-20 captain is currently undergoing a three-week assessment with the Mount Darwin-based side. Agama FC are considered local heroes in their region, as their promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) for the 2026 season has brought top-flight football to Mount Darwin for the first time in history.

“It is not true that the player is with other Zimbabwean rookies, Hardrock FC; he is definitely with Agama FC,” the source confirmed.

It was further revealed that the red and white capital city giants received a formal invitation from the rookies for the former Ludzeludze Killers defender to attend trials. This was confirmed by an invitation letter addressed to ‘Strong’,  inviting the player for a three-week stint with the club.

“We wish to invite you for three weeks of football trials at Agama Football Club, starting from February 8, 2026,” the letter reads.

Umkhonto KaShaka Public Relations Officer (PRO), Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya, confirmed that the player left for Zimbabwe early this week.

“Yes, it is true that Newman is attending trials with a Zimbabwean side and is expected back after three weeks,” Ngwenya said.

He added that while he was not certain of the club’s name, the Zimbabwean side provided air tickets for the player.
