MATSAPHA – Judges at the 2026 Mr and Miss UNESWA pageant were faced with a difficult decision as contestants delivered outstanding performances throughout the competition.
Held at the Kwaluseni Sports Emporium on Friday night, the event drew an energetic crowd whose cheers filled the venue as each contestant took to the runway.
Participants displayed confidence and composure in the swimwear segment, with both male and female contestants impressing the audience. The ladies showcased poise and elegance, while the gentlemen drew loud applause for their stage presence and physique.
The competition intensified during the evening wear segment, where contestants appeared in carefully tailored outfits. The ladies wore elegant gowns, while the gentlemen impressed in fitted designer suits, further raising the standard of the contest.
During the question-and-answer session, the newly crowned Mr UNESWA said he would advocate for greater appreciation of modelling within the institution. “I would encourage more male students to take up modelling, as many shy away from it. It deserves more recognition,” he said.
The newly crowned Miss UNESWA highlighted the need for students to be better prepared for employment realities. “I would encourage students to consider flexible study options and avoid courses that are already saturated in order to improve job prospects,” she said.
Organisers described the pageant as one of the most competitive in recent years, while judges acknowledged the depth of talent, noting that selecting winners had not been easy.
