Ingredients

  • 1 (1.5 kg) beef brisket, trimmed of fat
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 (340 g) bottle tomato-based chili sauce
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar

Method

  • Gather all ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Season brisket on all sides with salt and pepper and place in a glass baking dish. Cover with a layer of sliced onion.
  • Mix beer, chili sauce, and brown sugar together in a medium bowl. Pour over beef brisket. Cover the dish tightly with aluminium foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours. Remove the aluminium foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Let brisket rest and cool slightly before slicing and returning to the dish. Reheat in the oven with the sauce spooned over the sliced meat.
  1. Fluffy pancakes

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp oil

Method

  • Mix dry ingredients in bowl.
  • In separate bowl beat egg, milk and oil until combined and pour into dry ingredients.
  • Stir just until combined (batter may still be slightly lumpy).
  • Cook on lightly greased hot skillet over medium heat for approximately 2 minutes on each side.
  1. Lemon pepper wings

These lemon-pepper wings bring together crispy chicken and a bold blend of citrus and spice. The light coating and flavourful seasoning create that perfect balance of tangy and savoury in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 ½ cups butter
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 parsely (chopped)
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice

Method

  • In a small bowl, combine the baking powder and lemon pepper seasoning. Toss the wings until evenly coated.
  • Arrange the wings in a single layer, leaving space between each piece.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Bake the wings for 40–45 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Add lemon zest, lemon juice, lemon pepper seasoning, honey, and parsley. Stir to combine.
  • Let the sauce come together until smooth and combined.
  • Pour the sauce over the wings
  • Toss or brush to coat.
  • Serve immediately with lemon wedges.
