PIGG’S PEAK– Former Baroka FC entertainer Mthokozisi ‘Dancing Confidence’ Ngcobo is hoping to turn heads in Eswatini as he searches for his next opportunity in football.

Ngcobo was among the standout names in the Mbabane Swallows squad that featured in the Pigg’s Peak Clean Up Campaign pre-season tournament at Killarney Sports Ground on Saturday, August 8, where more than 100 spectators watched the action.

The player is known for his flair, ball-juggling ability and kasi diski-inspired style, which previously made him a popular figure in South African football circles.

He joined Baroka FC ahead of the 2024/25 season under Coach Morgan Mammila, having built a reputation for entertaining supporters with his technical ability and expressive style of play.

Now, the attacking player is trying his luck in neighbouring Eswatini, with Swallows Coach Sindiso Gama using the tournament to assess a large group of players as he rebuilds the capital city giants ahead of the new season.

Ngcobo was given an opportunity to showcase his ability as Swallows suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to South African side Kamhlushwa Real Madrid.

For Kamhlushwa, the tournament ended in triumph after the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side defeated Malanti Chiefs 2-0 in the final to lift the trophy.

Kamhlushwa coach Thomas Nkosi was particularly pleased with the performance of his young squad after fielding Under-20 players.

“This was our first pre-season game and we played with Under-20 players. They can compete and I’m glad we won the trophy with the young squad. There is something good coming this season. We are working hard to move from the ABC Motsepe League in Mpumalanga and push for promotion to the Championship,” Nkosi said.

The tournament also provided Swallows with an opportunity to run the rule over several other players, including Malanti Chiefs goalkeeper Bongiswa ‘Khune’ Dlamini, Mangwanyana striker Phiwokwakhe ‘Shalulile’ Matsebula and former Kwaluseni Rebels player Muzi ‘Kalito’ Thobela.

Gama is expected to make further assessments before deciding which players will form part of his squad for the new campaign.
