MBABANE – A theatre Production by Sibonisiwe Dlamini will be presented at The Eswatini Theatre Club on Friday, October 16, 2026.

The production is the third project supported through the Culture Spaces Context Micro-Seed Support for Women in the Arts Programme and is presented with the support of the Austrian Culture Forum in Pretoria.

‘Finding My Voice’ is a theatre production that explores experiences around gender-based violence, family ridicule and expectations, the dynamics of raising a girl child as compared to raising a boy and the rise from silence to having a voice.

What happens when the silence becomes too heavy to carry? What happens when you cannot stand up for yourself yet you are a patron of rights for others? What happens when you are watching from the sidelines, are we all perpetrators in different forms?

Through a series of intimate monologues, finding my voice gives voice to stories that are often whispered, hidden or never spoken at all, from the home, the workplace, schools, churches and within communities.

‘Finding My Voice’ is about finally stepping out of pain and painting yourself with beautiful words, actions of love no matter what anyone else says. It’s about facing the trauma and saying: ‘I know I’m not alone and every voice deserves to be heard.’

About the artist: Sibonisiwe Dlamini is an upcoming actress from Eswatini who is passionate about using the arts to tell meaningful stories. She is passionate about the creative space (acting -film or theatre, voice work).

She believes the arts hold the power to create dialogue connections, healing and growth.

She has an interest in film (has featured in ‘Ekhaya Season’ 1, ‘Baka Ngwane’ and other short films), theatre and voice performance and she is committed to developing her craft and contributing to Eswatini’s creative industry.  Her love for storytelling comes from a belief that the arts have the unique ability to inspire conversation, encourage empathy and promote healing.

She is particularly drawn to stories that reflect the realities of everyday people, challenge perspectives and celebrate the resilience of individuals and communities. Through her performances, she hopes to create characters that audiences can relate to and remember long after the curtain falls or the credits roll.
