Turns out, you don’t need alcohol to make a tasty drink! A mocktail is a non-alcoholic cocktail: a mixed drink without the alcohol (either eliminated entirely or with a non-alcoholic spirit). Mocktails are the perfect choice for people who are pregnant or avoiding alcohol.

It can be tricky to find alcohol alternatives that are healthy and delicious. We bring you nutritional mocktail recipes and inspiration so you can still have fun, enjoy the celebration, and bounce out of bed the next day, feeling fresh and energised. These non-alcoholic cocktails make virgin drinks just as delicious as the real thing.

Virgin Mimosa

This non-alcoholic mimosa is bubbly and refreshing: The perfect virgin drink for children or people avoiding alcohol!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Orange juice,
  • ¼ cup Stoney ginger beer or lemonade

Method

Pour them together, and you’ll be amazed that the flavour mimics a mimosa without being too literal. The hint of ginger on the finish gives it an interesting flair. It’s quick and easy to find both of these ingredients in your local grocery.

Virgin Mojito

Ingredients

  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp. honey syrup
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 1L Sparkling water or Sprite
  • Ice

Method

  1. Place mint leaves and lemon juice in a glass and muddle them together. Muddling = mushing them up and crushing the leaves to release the flavour and oils the mint. Use the handle of a wooden spoon.
  2. Add the honey simple syrup.
  3. Add the sparkling water. Garnish with lime slices, a sprig of mint.

Cucumber Lime Spritzer

  • 4-6 medium cucumber slices
  • 2 cups lime juice
  • 4-6 medium mint leaves
  • ginger beer, soda, or sparkling water (to taste –  about 1/2 cup)
  • extra cucumber slices, mint leaves, and lime wedge or lime twist for garnish

Muddle the cucumber slices, lime juice, and mint leaves together in a sturdy glass with a spoon or muddler.

Fill a drinking glass with ice and strain the liquid into the glass

Pour the ginger beer, sparkling water, or soda into the glass to taste.

Garnish with extra cucumber slices, mint leaves, and a lime wedge or lime twist!
