Trusting Christ provides an unbreakable anchor amid life’s unpredictable storms. This week’s feature surrendered his path to Him, and Christ revealed his true purpose, leading him towards a life-changing destiny.
When he first encountered God, Leroy Manzini was a Form I pupil at Swazi National High School. Living in the hostel and away from his parents for the first time, he felt completely adrift. He found himself surrounded by peer pressure and negative influences that simply did not sit right with his soul. One Sunday, however, the atmosphere shifted. A visiting pastor delivered a message with such conviction it pierced through his confusion: “If you want to live a worthy life with purpose, accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.” Seeking to fill a deep, aching void, Manzini chose Him that day, and he has never looked back.
“That decision was the anchor of my youth,” he reflects. “I became hungry for the Word, sacrificing my lunch hours for Scripture Union (SU) services. It was there where I found my identity and reason to live.” This spiritual discipline did not waver as he progressed to the University of Eswatini (UNESWA). Despite the diverse behaviours and temptations found in varsity, he remained firmly rooted in the Student Christian Movement (SCM). His faith was never merely a lifestyle preference; it was his literal sustenance.
Manzini reveals that his path was not without its shadows. “Being born into the Manzini family brought specific tribulations and burdens that I did not choose, but had to face,” he shares. “However, my faith helped me break cycles and overcome these battles. I am who I am today because those trials made me stronger through Christ.” He stands as a living testament to the promise that: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 )
As his faith became more vivid to those around him, Manzini was elected to the Church Youth Brothers Committee. “In our church, leadership is not given by chance; it requires deep scrutiny of one’s character. Serving in this capacity proved that my ‘fruits’ were visible to all,” he testifies. This aligns with the wisdom of Proverbs 20:11 (KJV): “Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.”
At the age of 31, God rewarded Manzini’s unwavering patience. This past Saturday, he celebrated his union with his beautiful wife. “fter only two days of marriage, I am already enjoying the divine preparation God had in store for me because I waited on His word,” he says joyfully.
His message to every young person today is simple yet profound: Try God. If you desire to unlock your full potential and understand the true reason for your existence, run to Him. He will change your life for the best.
